BEATON, John (Jack) Alexander - With his loving family at his side, John (Jack) Alexander Beaton passed away on Wednesday evening, July 22, 2009 in his 75th year at St. Joseph's Hospital, Sudbury after suffering a stroke on March 25, 2009. Loving wife of Shirley (nee Hurteau) for 54 years. Proud father to John of Haileybury, Deborah (Andrew Nesci) of Sudbury, Murray (Ann) of Burlington and Donald (Dina predeceased) of Sudbury. Awesome grandpa of Amanda (friend Chris Spry), Ryan, Alexander and Christopher. Also missing him are his grand dogs Korona and Nolan. Reunited with his parents Alex and Ella Beaton and his sister Marilyn. Survived by his Uncle John Quait of Pembroke, Ontario. Brother in law to Dorothy (predeceased) and Darcy Romain, Bill and Nina Hurteau, Frances and Glenn Thrasher, Freda (predeceased) and Keith Bryson, Raymond and Ester (predeceased) Hurteau, George Hurteau and Michael and Helen Hurteau. Cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was born in 1934 in Noranda, Quebec and raised in Toronto, Ontario. He and Shirley made their home in Sudbury since 1954. Accomplished mechanical supervisor at Inco iron ore plant. He retired in 1989 with 37 years of service. He thoroughly enjoyed 5 years in Soroko, Indonesia at PT Inco and visiting different parts of the world on their yearly trips home. Always ready and willing to help with his daughter and son-in-law's businesses as he could be found fixing a leaking sink or boning a turkey during holiday seasons. He enjoyed golf and cooking in his retirement years. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Sunday, July 26th, 2009 at 2 p.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium.
