DEMKIW, Lucy Ellen (nee Styles) - In loving memory of Lucy Ellen (nee Styles) Demkiw, 82 years, who passed away Thursday evening, July 9th, 2009 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - St. Joseph Health Centre. Born in Collingwood, she married William in Barrie in 1945. She served for over 20 years as a Foster Mother with the Children's Aid. Lucy was always active politically with elections Municipal, Provincial, and Federal. She was a faithful member of the Liberal Party and the first person given a life-time membership with the Federal Party. A devout Roman Catholic, dedicated member of Holy Trinity Parish and a Past President of the CWL. Lucy served a term as a Trustee with the Separate School Board. She was well known for her volunteer leadership with St. David's School Breakfast Program where she helped until poor health. Lucy was a skilled and competitive bowler in the Sudbury Leagues for many years. She loved playing cards and games. She will be missed by her “Red Lobster“ friends who enjoyed many fun get-togethers. Beloved wife of William Demkiw predeceased 2000. Loving mother of William (Gail) of MacTier, Linda and Edward both of Sudbury, Monique (Murray) of Parry Sound, predeceased by John in 1997. Cherished grandmother of Janis, Wesley (Paige), Tyler, Renée (Paulo), special grandson Lenny and great-grandchildren Giovanni, Giulia and Michaele. Dear daughter of William and Selena Styles both predeceased. Dear sister of Phyllis, Gerald, James, Ethel, Gladys, Ruth, Fred and William all predeceased. Resting at the JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch St. Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Church, Burton Ave., Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 at 11 a.m. Cremation at the Parklawn Crematorium. Prayers 4 p.m. Monday. Donations to Holy Trinity Church or SRHF Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 p.m. Monday).
