Payne, C.N. Shirley (Harris)

It is with heavy hearts that her children announce the passing of Shirley Cecilia Noella Payne (nee Harris) at Health Sciences North on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the age of 91 years. Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, she was the daughter of Arthur Harris (Nottingham, England) and Lea Chevrette (Tupper Lake, NY) both predeceased. Sister to Freda Girard (predeceased). Wife of Albert Douglas (predeceased 1994) and Walter Payne (predeceased 1996). Cherished mother to Marlene and Danny Douglas (Sudbury), Kathy Arlt (Hanmer) and Gordon Payne (Timmins). Beloved grandmother to Trevor, Tracy (Jessie Bridges), Jodie (Danny Deschatelets) all of Timmins; Craig, Ryan (Megan) of Hanmer; Kevin & Darryl (Sudbury) and Allan (Toronto). Great-grandmother to Dean, Drew, Peyton, Cienna, Ian, Chase, Callie, Taylor, Braydon, Kory and Denis. Missed by many nieces and nephews. Shirley was always happiest surrounded by family. She always had a hug, kiss and smile for everyone. Her sense of humour and determination will be remembered by everyone she knew. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to her doctors, PSW’s and the nurses on the fourth floor, north tower, of Health Sciences North. We would also like to thank Shirley’s extended family at Casa Bella where she lived for over 23 years. Cremation has already taken place. Interment in the Second Avenue Cemetery and a Celebration of Life for immediate family are both scheduled for the spring of 2020.
