LINDON, H. Dr. Paul

Dr. Paul H. Lindon, Ph.D, F.I.M., F.I.M.M.M., C.Eng., P.Eng. On Thursday 23rd January 2014, Dr. Paul H. Lindon peacefully succumbed to a long term illness in the company of family members in his Sudbury home at the too early age of 74 years. Born on 17th July 1939, the second son to his pre-deceased parents Horace William Lindon (1903 – 1974) and Evelyn Frances Lindon (nee Clarke) (1914 – 1951) of Birmingham England, he is survived by his beloved wife Katie (Kathleen) Lindon (nee Mucklow), two loving and cherished sons Carl Paul William Lindon and Paul Joseph Lindon, his elder brother Joseph Lionel Lindon and his three treasured grandchildren Clare Marie Lindon, Joseph Michael Lindon and Marissa Elizabeth Lindon. Following highly distinguished academic studies at Aston and Birmingham Universities in his hometown of Birmingham, England and thence at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Dr. Lindon began his professional career with Falconbridge Nickel Mines in 1969 also marking the beginning of his long residency in the Sudbury area. He embarked upon his second professional career as a full professor at Sudbury’s Laurentian University in 1980 eventually retiring in 2005. His short retirement years were spent in the pursuit of general academic interests, the history of edge weaponry, the enjoyment of classical music and various home improvement projects at his rural south Sudbury home for the comfort and enjoyment of his beloved Katie and himself. While illness eventually robbed him of his mobility and strength he never lost his zest for life and learning, nor the pre-eminence of the family for whom he so fastidiously, provided, cared and sacrificed and which he loved without condition or end. And just as you loved us, you will never leave our hearts and minds dearest husband, father, brother and granddad. Visitation will be held at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Wednesday 29th January 2014 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm to be immediately followed by a short non-denominational memorial service to celebrate his life and accomplishments. Interment will follow on Thursday 30th January at 2:00 pm in the St. John’s Cemetery, Garson-Coniston Road, Garson, Ontario. In lieu of flowers the family ask that consideration be given for donations in his memory to the Canadian Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
